Progress Reports
Parents are kept informed of how their child is doing throughout the year, in a report that looks at the whole child and not only at marks.
A report on the whole child
CBSE asks schools to report each child’s progress through a Holistic Progress Card, developed by NCERT under the National Education Policy 2020. The policy describes it as “a holistic, 360-degree, multidimensional report”. In line with this guidance, progress at St. Xavier’s is looked at across every part of school life.
Learning in each subject
What your child has understood and can now do.
Skills and habits
Thinking, communicating, creativity and working with others.
Arts, health and games
Art, music, sports and yoga count as part of a child’s progress.
Attendance
Regular attendance, recorded through the year.
The child’s own view
Children are encouraged to reflect on their own work as they grow older.
The teacher’s observations
Strengths, and the next steps for your child.
How progress is judged at each stage
| Stage | How progress is judged |
|---|---|
| Pre-Primary, and Grades I and II | The teacher’s observation of the child in activities, play and class work. Children of this age are not ranked against one another. |
| Grades III to V | Class work, oral work, projects and written assessments through the year. |
| Grades VI and VII | Written assessments in each subject, together with projects and class work. |
Parent-teacher meetings
Teachers discuss each child’s progress with parents at scheduled parent-teacher meetings. If you would like to talk about your child’s progress between meetings, please contact the school office to arrange a time.
