School Timings
School timings at St. Xavier’s Public School, Haldia follow CBSE norms, and are set to suit the age of the children in each stage.
The norms for each stage
CBSE does not lay down one set of clock timings for every school. It leaves the timetable to the school, which must provide the working days and teaching hours set out in the Right to Education Act and the national curriculum framework.
| Stage | Classes | National norm |
|---|---|---|
| Pre-Primary | Play Group, Nursery, LKG, UKG | A shorter day. The national framework for the early years describes a day of about five and a half hours for children of 4 to 6, and a half day for the youngest. |
| Primary | Grade I to Grade V | At least 200 working days and 800 teaching hours in the academic year |
| Middle School | Grade VI and Grade VII | At least 220 working days and 1,000 teaching hours in the academic year |
